What is
United States
Masters Swimming?
United
States Masters Swimming (USMS) is an organization of sportswomen and
sportsmen founded in 1970 and dedicated to the premise that the lives of
participants will be enhanced through aquatic physical conditioning.
USMS supports and encourages competitions among its members and those of
other nations. The mission of USMS is to promote fitness and health in
adults by offering and supporting Masters Swimming programs.
What is the Colonies Zone?
USMS
is divided into 8 zones across the country. The Colonies
Zone stretches from
Maine
to
Virginia
and includes ten Local Masters Swimming Committees (LMSC's).
From north to south, the LMSC's are New
England, Adirondack, Niagara, Connecticut, Metropolitan, New Jersey,
Delaware Valley, Maryland, Potomac Valley, and Virginia. At the
close of the 2001 registration year, Colonies had 8,309 registered
swimmers. Click here to see what's new

can I swim?
